CUERDA SECA WORKSHOP

Viva_ceramics is back for another fantastic cuerda seca workshop! If you’re looking to create original gifts for friends and family this Christmas, this workshop will transform simple objects into small Christmas wonders that will amaze everyone…
Cuerda seca is a ceramic decoration technique that allows for well-defined areas of color and sharp edges. It’s created by drawing a line of a grease mixture (traditionally wax and manganese oxide) on the surface of the ceramic object. This line acts as a “barrier”: during firing, this line prevents the colored glazes from mixing.
No special skills are required: just a willingness to be enchanted and a pinch of Christmas magic.
In the end, you’ll take home your creation… and maybe even a new holiday tradition.
