How long does a ceramics course last?
The duration of a course depends on its type and level:
- Daily lessons: 1–5 hours → Decoration (1h), Wheel throwing (1.5h), Combined sessions (up to 4.5h)
- Introductory courses: 8 hours (over 2 weeks) → Short course for beginners
- Long courses: 35 hours (5 days) → Beginner or intermediate wheel course
How much are pottery classes?
Prices vary depending on duration and level:
- Daily lessons: from €25 to €130, depending on the format.
- Introductory short courses: €180.
- Long (weekly) courses: €1220.
Note: All materials and use of the studio are included.
How much does a ceramics workshop cost?
Workshops at Studio MUD usually start at €90 — for example, the Cuerda Seca Workshop costs €90, while special workshops (e.g. Pitfire) can go up to €150. Check the workshop page for exact dates and prices.
Who can attend the courses?
Anyone can take part in Studio MUD’s ceramic courses — no prior experience is required.

What do you do in a ceramics studio?
In a ceramics studio, you work with clay to create unique objects, learning techniques such as modeling, wheel-throwing, trimming, and decoration. The process goes from preparing the material to glazing and firing, combining creativity, craftsmanship, and relaxation in a complete artistic experience.
How many lessons are needed for a ceramics course?
- A short course usually includes 4 lessons (around 8 hours total).
- An intensive course lasts 5 consecutive days (around 35 hours).
- A single lessons last 1 to 3 hours, perfect for a first hands-on experience.
What materials, tools, and equipment are used at Studio MUD?
Studio MUD provides all the essential materials and tools for ceramic work, including:
Various types of clay, depending on the project.
- Electric potter’s wheels for shaping pieces.
- Hand tools like wire cutters, ribs, sponges, and trimming tools.
- Engobes and ceramic paints for decoration.
- Glazes for finishing and vitrification.
- Kilns for high-temperature firing and glazing.
All materials and tools are included in the courses and lessons, allowing students to focus entirely on their creative experience.
What should I wear to a ceramics course?
Dress comfortably and practically: wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, closed-toe shoes, and rollable sleeves. It’s best to avoid jewelry or bulky accessories.
How long does a private ceramics course last?
A private ceramics course with Alessandro Strano lasts 2 hours and offers personalized training designed to improve your technique and style based on your level and interests.
Why take a ceramics course?

How does the ceramics shipping work?
Shipping is optional. After the course or lesson, your pieces are glazed and fired at the studio. You can pick them up once they’re ready (usually after a few days or weeks). If you prefer, the studio can ship them to you for an additional cost, covering packaging and delivery.
Are meals provided during the course?
Yes, during the long wheel courses (both beginner and intermediate), lunch and coffee breaks are provided daily. These meals are included in the course price, along with materials, firing, and glazing. Dinner is not included.
Is accommodation included in the course?
No, accommodation is not included in the course fee.
